At two separate forums today, 5th November 2024, Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State command state the readiness of the command to deploy men and materials to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructures of government before, during, and after the Ondo State Governorship off cycle election in November.
Addressing a meeting of the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) chaired by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu at the Ondo State office of INEC, he reiterated the commitment of the Corps to its core mandate of safeguarding all assets and infrastructures of government with special concentration to ensuring a water tight security with other sister security agencies through out the electioneering period.
In a similar vein, earlier at the National Peace Committee, stakeholder dialogue on Ondo State pre-election engagement, the Commandant who was represented by Deputy Commandant Yusuf Odunayo, stressed the need for political gladiators to educate their supporters on the neednto challenge outcome of election constitutionally rather than taking to the street to vandalise property of government or perceived political rivals.
