KOGI NSCDC CONVICTS 38-YEAR-OLD MAN FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, CABLE VANDALISATION

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has secured the conviction of one Sunday Yomi for criminal conspiracy and cable vandalization.

The Federal High Court Sitting in Lokoja Kogi state on the 10th day of October 2024 convicted and sentenced Mr Sunday Yomi to 2 years imprisonment without option of fine for criminal conspiracy and power transformer/ armoured cable vandalism .

The NSCDC Head of prosecution team Ike F. Ugochukwu (Deputy Commandant of Corps) opined that the convict was arrested in 2023 by combined efforts of both vigilante group and NSCDC operatives while cutting huge amount of armoured cable used for transmitting and converting electricity power supply to the entire community of Agbajogun – Lodo community in Mopa Amuro Local Government Area of kogi state.

He stated further that the conviction of Mr. Sunday Yomi has sent signals to miscreants and persons of like minds that it’s no longer business as usual as any person caught in any criminal act will not escape conviction.

Meanwhile, the State Helmsman of Kogi NSCDC command, Assistant Commander General Paul Igwebuike commended the NSCDC Legal team for diligent prosecution of the case, and reassured the good people of the state of safety and protection of critical national assets in the state while urging them to corporate with the corps by providing credible information as at when necessary for effective discharge of the corps mandate.
