The Nigerian Army, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) have sought to partner with the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) at Tincan Island Port, Lagos, to tackle the issue of insecurity and vandalisation of infrastructure in the port.
The new Commander of the Nigerian Army, Arakan Barack Cantonment, Colonel Olusegun Opeyemi Okungbure, made the pledge during a courtesy visit to Tincan Port Manager, Abubakar Sani Isa, saying that he was ready to intervene whenever the port requires its security assistance to secure port infrastructure and facilities.
Also, PCRC led by its Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwokeka, during the visit pledged their support to the port, saying that its members would need a 20 feet container for office accommodation within the port environment.
He said further that the Association of West African Exports and Maritime Professionals (WAEMP) led its President; Mr. Olumekun Olubunmi, assured that the group is poised to ensure continuous flow of exports cargo to the port, saying that WAEMP would deepen its relationship with the port as it were in the past.
