In tandem with the ongoing celebration of international peace day, the Imo command of NSCDC has joined other commands to celebrate Peace globally.
This was made known to the press men in Owerri the capital city of Imo State through a speech made by the state commandant, Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) lmo state command. Dr. Mary E. Mbanugo
Dr. Mbanugo in her speech charged her men in the command to always embrace peace at all cost and extend same to the general public, adding that the sweetest thing on earth is peace.
According to the service commander, “Peace is a virtue that produces moral excellence, promotes love, unity, development and progress”
She further stated that for any security personnel to discharge his duty professionally and effectively, he must have inner peace.
The vibrant state commandant did not stop in telling officers to eschew conflict, disharmony and anarchy because they can only bring about underdevelopment, hatred, misunderstanding and war in the society.
In a lecture presented by the Command 2ic, DC Ben Godman Nwaokeafor, officers and men were told to seek peace as we discharge our official duties, stating that a peaceful environment brings about discipline and respect in the job.
One of the highlights of the event was a drama display by officers and men of peace and conflict resolution units (PCRU) where NSCDC Agro Rangers and PCRU personnel intervened in a crisis between farmers and headers that brought peace among them.
It is note worthy also that the command embarked on a procession from the state headquarters to some streets of Owerri preaching the gospel of peace to be embraced by the general public.
