The Katsina State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) celebrated the 2024 International Day of Peace.
International Day of Peace is commemorated around the World each year on September 21st.The date was set aside by the United Nations resolution in 1981. The theme of this year is “Cultivating the Culture of peace “
Is a week long program which stated on Saturday 21st September, 2024 with Public sensitization on how to promote and maintain peace in our homes, offices markets and other places of human endeavor.Other activities include Public lecture on the role of NSCDC in promoting peace, as well as peace walk.
The peace walk was organized today Tuesday 24th September, 2024.It started from the Command Headquarters and moved through WTC around about.It passed through Mani road to Barhim round about and through the ring road back to Liyafa Palace round about.The walk ended back to the State Command.

who addressed officers and men of the Corps shortly after the walk emphasized the need to maintain peace in our various communities.
Commandant Indabawa called on the good people of the State and the Country as a whole to encourage, preach and promote peace through various practices.
“NSCDC in the State is committed to the promotion of peace, Safety and Security of the good people of the State and the Country as a whole”the CC reiterated.
The State Commandant also indicated that the Corps under the leadership of the indefatigable Commandant General A.A Audi PhD, mni, OFR has renewed strategy in promoting peace, safety and Security across the Country. Personnel have under gone different professional courses on Peace and Conflict Resolution with view to improve their competence and professionalism for better performance.
Earlier in his remarks, the Head of Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit SC Ibrahim Abba revealed that the NSCDC amendment Act. 2007 empowered the Corps with power to arrange and mediate in the settlement of disputes among willing members of the public.
He further stated that the Unit recorded much successes in resolving conflicts ranging from marital,lands, farmers -harders and much more.
