The Chief of Army Staff ( COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to troops welfare and that of their families, emphasizing that a good welfare package is a requirement for operational success. The COAS whom was represented by the Commander Infantry Corps, Major General Olufemi Oluyede, stated this during the commissioning ceremony of the Nigerian Army Welfare Limited by Guarantee (NAWLG) / Hyde Energy Liquified Petroleum Gas Station at Jaji Military Cantonment.
Lieutenant General Lagbaja stated that the Nigerian Army has not relented in formulating policies and strategies to improve the standard of living of the Nigerian Army family. This according to the COAS informed the Army Headquarters partnership through the NAWLG with Hyde Energy Limited, a dealer in Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Oil to make the LPG products of good quality available to troops, their families and the Cantonment host community at an affordable market price.
He disclosed that the Nigerian Army will continue to execute life-impacting projects that would complement government efforts and add value to the society at various levels. The COAS therefore urged members of the Jaji Cantonment Community to patronize the Gas Station to encourage more investments of this nature.
Lieutenant General Lagbaja used the occasion to express his immense gratitude to the President and Commander -in- Chief of Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for giving the Nigerian Army all necessary support required to operate and function effectively as an Army. He also extended the Nigerian Army’s appreciation to Hyde Energy Limited for delivering their end of the partnership and the good people of the Jaji Community for their cooperation.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Group Managing Director NAWLG Major General Samson Jiya commended the effort of the COAS at ensuring adequate troops’ welfare, emphasizing the importance of welfare for the effective management of a fighting force.
While giving the project highlights, the Chief Executive Officer, Hyde Energy Limited, Mr Dimeji Edwards noted that the collaboration with the NA will bring sustainable and affordable energy solutions to Army personnel and their families as well as the general public.
Highlights of the event were cutting of the commissioning tape, unveiling of commissioning plaque and guided tour of the newly commissioned facility.
