The Nigeria Navy in a coordinated operation destroyed an illegal refining site and wooden boats laden with stolen petroleum products across Bayelsa State.
The operations by the Navy witnessed the destruction of an illegal refining site within the Isonogbene general area of the state over the weekend.
A terse statement by the Navy on Monday via its Facebook page also revealed that its personnel under the codename: Operation DELTA SANITY also impounded a wooden boat laden with an unspecified quantity of stolen crude oil around the Botokiri Creek area of the state.
Also, maritime operatives disclosed that its NNS SOROH patrol team discovered and apprehended two suspects in possession of two wooden boats laden with numerous sacks containing illegally refined petroleum products in the Ogboinibiri area of the state.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state.
Similarly, the Forward Operating Base FORMOSO patrol team had discovered and seized 2 large wooden boats laden with an unspecified quantity of stolen crude oil around Botokiri Axis of Nembe local government area of Bayelsa.
The development followed the destruction of an illegal refining site with two storage tanks, two cooking pots, a dug-out pit and two large wooden boats laden with large amounts of stolen crude oil and illegally refined AGO around the Eferiwarie general area of Rivers State on September 5.
