The Helmsman of the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Security and
Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Matthew Ovye, has explained in detail
how the emergence of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi saved the NSCDC from the
gory experience of near collapse shortly before his appointment.
Commandant Ovye revealed how the Corps had suffered immense
deprivation, incapacitation, deficiencies, and obvious managerial
flops, which had almost stagnated the Corps before the appointment of
Dr. Audi.
In all ramifications, CG Audi deserves our commendation for his
sterling and exemplary leadership of the NSCDC since he took over as
our Commandant General, and this I am saying without fear of
contradiction. Indeed, he and his competent team have worked to their
bones to save the Corps from the agony of being run aground, and that
is just the bitter truth.
Commandant Ovyy made this revelation on Thursday at the Imo Command of
the NSCDC when he was presented with a copy of the ‘3rd Year
Compendium of Achievements of CG Audi’ by its author, Isiaka Mustapha.
“Virtually all the segments of the NSCDC have been turned around to
the benefit of all the personnel of the Corps, and I am so excited
that the compendium has taken good account of all these revolutionary
changes attained by CG Audi in the last three years of his leadership
of the Corps. Dr. Audi came at a critical time in the history of the
NSCDC when all hopes had almost been lost. He came and revamped the
Corps from imminent danger and improved its image.” Commandant Ovye
said
“For emphasis, in the last three years, his administration has
revitalized the insurance scheme for personnel; created the Civil
Defence Academy in Nasarawa State; established a Female Squad for the
Corps; revamped the Corps’ career progression; enhanced the welfare
package of personnel; constructed official and residential buildings
within and outside the NSCDC headquarters; created the Commandant
General’s Special Intelligence Corps; recovered critical assets,
including railway materials worth over N6 billion; and procured
Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) vehicles to combat crime. The
achievements are just endless, and he has not rested on his oars.”
said Commandant Ovye.
”I must commend the author of the compendium for keeping records in
their appropriate perspective for history. I sincerely thank him for
his sense of patriotism and interest in the Corps, particularly as it
concerns CG Audi’s accomplishments in office,” Ovye added.
