Ayilara has been reportedly died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Thursday from prostate cancer complications.
Ayilara had been deployed by Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police to head the Akwa Ibom command of the Force in February 2024,
Ayilara, had before his appointment as the helmsman of Akwa Ibom Police Command had served as acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos in November 2023, succeeding Idowu Owohunwa.
He earned a law degree (LL.B) from the University of Ibadan and masters of law (LLM) from the University of Lagos.
He was appointed into the Police Force as a cadet assistant superintendent of police on May 18, 1992, and has served in various capacities.
