LAGOS NSCDC ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS IN IKORODU LGA, KESHINRO, ADESHINA, AYANGBUREN, AGBANUSI HARP ON SYNERGY AMONGST SECURITY AGENCIES

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, in its drive to sustain security, safety and peace in the communities, yesterday, Thursday, 22nd August, 2024, hosted, a security Town Hall meeting with stakeholders at Area B, which comprises Ikorodu, Igbogbo, Ijede, Isiu and Imota divisions. The town hall meeting was also aimed, at bringing stakeholders in the community together, to discuss amongst other relevant security issues, their role in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in Ikorodu.

The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government Area ( LGA ), Honourable Wasiu Adeshina, delivered, his goodwill message at the event, emphatically, on the need for the Corps to synergize more with all other sister security agencies in the area. The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu LGA, who was joined, by some of his cabinet members including the Secretary to the Local Government, Council Manager, just to mention a few also seized, the opportunity to task the NSCDC divisions to stop unauthorized dealers in petroleum products during this seasonal scarcity around the town. He further promised, to work with his cabinet members to support all security agencies to achieve their very best in the area.

The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, declared, the meeting open. He also called on all stakeholders such as; the government, traditional institutions, security agencies, religious bodies, non governmental organizations, civil society, media organizations, local security networks, youth groups, student unions, trade unions and market leaders et ce tera, to support the NSCDC in delivering on its mandate across all communities in the state. He congratulated, the Area B Commander,  Assistant Commandant of Corps Mutiu Ologunebi, his Divisional officers and personnel, for putting up a wonderful town hall meeting and challenged them to remain consistent, in order to be able to sustain their remarkable effort, which is capable of stemming the tide of insecurity in all the nooks and crannies of the various  communities across the LGA.

The town hall meeting also featured, a lecture and an interactive panel session, moderated, by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin. The panel session involved, representative of government, traditional institution, security agencies, associations, corporate bodies et ce tera, who gave insight to the role they play in keeping the communities safe and secured against the destruction of our collective wealth and heritage by criminal elements. The lecture titled, “The Role of Community and Stakeholders in the Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure,” was delivered, by Colonel Samuel Agbanusi ( rtd ). The guest speaker, amongst other germaine points he identified, as solutions to the various degrees of insecurity bedeviling us today, as a people, seized the opportunity, to also call on security agencies to collaborate much more, if they must defeat the common enemy, which is  insecurity in our society.

The event also drew, Royal fathers from Ikorodu, particularly, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty ( HRM ) Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, ably represented and the second traditional ruler at the event, His Royal Majesty ( HRM ) Eng., Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, Osomeku 1, Sekumade of Ipakodo, security agencies such as; Nigeria Police Force ( NPF ), Nigeria Immigration Service ( NIS ), Department of State Security ( DSS ), Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC ), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA ), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC – the host ), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps ( LNSC ) and other very important stakeholders as earlier mentioned, including Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Joint Task Force  and many more. They all gave their nod for the initiative and appealed that it continues periodically, to aid synergy amongst all stakeholders in the area .

The event also featured, presentation of awards, which were given to the Executive Chairman, Honourable Wasiu Adeshina, the Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro and many other deserving guests at the town hall meeting for their immense contributions to the security of lives and property of the people and human development.
