IMO NSCDC COMMANDANT, MATHEW OVYE PARTNERS WITH OTHER SERVICE CHIEFS TO INTENSIFY SECURITY IN IMO STATE

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) lmo state Command, Commandant Mathew S. Ovye has joined his counterparts to provide safety and security to Imo State Citizens and itS inhabitants, on the purported sit-at- home declared by the Finland based Simon Ekpa from 29th July to 2nd August 2024 and the planned mass protest scheduled for 1st to 10 August 2024 across the country.

Addressing News men in Owerri, Imo state capital, Commandant. Ovye said that the operation show of force in Imo State is a 15-day confidence building patrol exercise to strengthen public confidence in going about their lawful businesses without fear of harm or molestation.

According to Commandant Ovye, security Agencies across the State started the operation on Saturday the 27th of July 2024 and nothing will deter us from achieving a maximum result.

” We have made water-tight deployment to ensure that the peace of the state is not destabilized” said Ovye.

He further charged Imolites to be law abiding and endeavour never to be part of any activity that will bridge the peace of the state, before, during and after the protest.

The Security Chief clearly stated that citizens have the right to protest but must protest within the ambit of the law, therefore, any act of violent protest, is a bridge of peace and  will attract a minimum force by the Security Agencies in Imo State.
