NSCDC arrests four suspected electrical vandals in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested four members of a syndicate involved in vandalizing electrical equipment in Birninkudu Local Government Area of the state.

This information was contained in a statement issued, signed, and made available to Online Tribune in Dutse, the state capital, by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, who said, “The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully apprehended four individuals involved in acts of vandalism of electrical equipment, criminal conspiracy, and theft.”

According to the statement, “The suspects are Usman A. Aliyu, aged 35; Magaji Aminu, aged 47; Sama’ila Badamasa, aged 36, all of Zarenawa village in Birnin Kudu LGA, Jigawa State; and Abba Sama’ila, aged 23, of Bauchi State.”

ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud explained that the suspects were arrested following an intelligence report received at the Birnin Kudu Divisional Office, indicating that they were seen late last Friday removing electrical and armored cables from an uncompleted building in the area.

The statement further noted, “They are alleged to have been involved in vandalizing infrastructure, orchestrating criminal conspiracies, and committing thefts that have caused significant disruptions in electricity supply in the area and financial losses.”

He mentioned that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects’ involvement in multiple criminal activities in the area, where they have confessed to the crimes. The investigation is ongoing, and they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The Command’s image maker also noted that the State Commandant, Muhammad Danjuma, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding public assets and ensuring the safety and security of the people.
