NSCDC Apprehends 7 For Pipeline Vandalism In Bayelsa

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps has advised members of the public to desist from tampering with the government’s crude oil infrastructure as it will not rest in ensuring an end to oil theft in the Niger Delta.

The message was relayed by the Bayelsa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Eweka Douglas, during the parade of seven suspects arrested for pipeline vandalism at the command headquarters in Yenagoa.

Caught vandalizing a pipeline belonging to Agip Oil Company near the Tebidaba flow station in Southern Ijaw, the 7 suspects are now being paraded at the headquarters of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital.

Also on display are the tools used for their illicit act including a Cetalin Gas cylinder mainly used by professional welders.

The NSCDC Commandant, Eweka Douglas, says the arrest is one of many successful operations aimed at curbing oil theft in Bayelsa State.

He reads the Riot Act to individuals still bent on destroying the country’s oil infrastructure in the state and environs.

The NSCDC also promises to maintain partnerships with surveillance companies and willing individuals to rid the state of oil theft and other sundry crimes in the Niger Delta at large.
