The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ebonyi State Command, Dr Elijah Etim Willie has promised a hundred percent support to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Ebonyi State Command towards beefing up security around the facility. Commandant Willie gave the promise in his office in Abakaliki on friday, June 7, 2024 when he played host to the newly deployed Controller of the Service, Mrs Vera Elizabeth Ogwude.
He asserted that Critical National Asset and infrastructure protection was his core mandate which includes Nigeria correction Centers.
According to him, the Ebony State Command of NSCDC has been extending it’s security patrol coverage to the Corrections’ facilities and would double the efforts now, given the heightened security threat in and outside Ebonyi State.
The NSCDC State Commandant averred that the cordial working relationship between the two sister agencies would continue to thrive, even though manpower of the corps is in short supply to cover most of the areas yearning for attention; more so when members of staff hardly want to serve in Ebonyi State.
While assuring the Controller of a robust working relationship.
He charged her to brace up for the task ahead with an assurance that: “if you succeed, I succeed.”
Controller Ogwude had earlier on thanked Commandant Willie for the warm reception accorded her and her entourage. She requested a security back up to beefed up guards at the Corrections centers at Afikpo and Abakaliki.
She added that she came to consolidate on the mutual inter agency collaboration already in place between them.
