Commandant Willie Receives Commendation over Support for ACTU

The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence CORPS, Ebonyi State Command, Dr. Elijah Etim Willie has been commended for his massive support and encouragement for the activities of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Monitoring Unit in the state.

The Commandant, ACTU, at the national headquarters, CC Remi Ekundayo made the commendation in a virtual meeting with the officers and men of the state command yesterday during the ACTU sensitization workshop in Abakaliki.

She observed that the support was evident in the commendable output of the unit, as monitored by the national headquarters. She further charged the officers and men of the command to maintain the tempo for the good of all.

The State Commandant Dr  Willie, in his contribution during the workshop, enjoined the participants to imbibe the spirit of responsibility in their conducts to ensure prudent management of their resources. He charged them to eschew pointing accusing fingers at others who were culpable in financial embarrassment advising that  financial discipline was the best way to go.

Earlier on the Commandant had reiterated his aversion for life of aggrandizement with borrowed resources as this would surely lead to financial embarrassment.

The head of ACTU in the command, Superintendent Irem Ibiam had elaborated the need for avoid financial embarrassment.

Arising from the central theme of the workshop which bordered around anti-corruption campaign: _say no to corruption, Integrity pays_  SC Ibiam encourage the participants to live within their means. He outline financial embarrassment, which he said, constitutes a gross misconduct according to public service rule, to include officer spending more than two-thirds of the monthly income on credit or borrowing to service vanity only to become insolvent.

According to him, such situations would invariably affect productivity as absenteeism and other associated fractions would concomitantly become rampant.

The workshop attracted participants from Area commands and divisions as well as State headquarters, Abakaliki.
