Nigerian Army & Police Rescue Eight Kidnapped CUSTECH Students In Joint Operation

In a coordinated effort, troops of the Nigerian Army, alongside operatives from the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, successfully rescued eight students from the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State. The students had been held hostage by terrorists in a dense forest near Oro Ago Village in Kwara State.

The Nigerian Army announced the successful rescue on their verified X handle, detailing the intensive clearance mission carried out by the combined forces. The search operation focused on nearby forests and villages, particularly along the Gbugu, Pategi, and Oro Ago Axis, including Babasango and Babanla areas.

The joint forces detected the terrorists’ movements as they attempted to relocate the hostages. Upon the troops’ approach, the terrorists abandoned the students and fled into the forest. The rescued students were then safely evacuated and handed over to Kogi State authorities for further actions and reunions with their families.

The Nigerian Army attributed the success of the operation to the unwavering commitment of the military and security agencies to ensure the safety and security of citizens, especially in areas plagued by terrorist activities. They also urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in combating terrorism and criminality in the region.
