NSCDC seals unlicensed private guard companies in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has sealed five Private Guard Companies for operating without renewed licenses.

The action was led by State Commandant Sani Mustapha during a routine monitoring and supervision exercise on Wednesday.

Commandant Mustapha emphasized that the enabling Acts of the Corps, 2003 as amended in 2007, mandate the NSCDC to supervise, monitor, train, retrain, and register all Private Guard Companies in the state.

He stated, “Any private guard company operating without a renewed license is considered illegal and deserves to be closed.”

He advised the operators of these companies to expedite the renewal of their licenses, noting that the Corps will continue routine monitoring every two weeks.

“We are set to continue routine monitoring fortnightly,” he added.

Mustapha also urged agencies and organizations to engage only registered and up-to-date Private Guard Companies to ensure optimum services.

Furthermore, he announced that the Corps would organize a retraining program for all Private Guard Companies in the state in the coming weeks.
