The Controller of Corrections FCT command, Abdul-Rahman Maiyaki has today commissioned the E-Learning centre for inmates of the Suleja Medium Custodial centre.
At the commissioning inside the Suleja Medium Custodial centre, Dr Maiyaki disclosed that the ceñtre would boost the educational and psychological growth of the inmates as well as dispel all forms of ignorance occasioned by illiteracy.
Controller Maiyaki further expressed the appreciation of the Controller General of Nigerian Correctional service, Haliru Nababa mni towards the members of the NGO parliament for their contributions in providing equipments for the takeoff of the centre and reiterated that the duty of reforming inmates is not solely that of the government as all hands need be on deck to ensure efficiency.
The equipment which ranges from furniture, computer sets to textbooks were donations from non governmental organizations as a fall out from the resolutions reached at the second parliamentary session of NGO’s and staff of the command earlier in May,2021 and geared towards making the centre certified for WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and also the National Open University of Nigeria
The representative of the NGO’s and the case manager Infinite Respite Foundation, Anita Uzama urged other well meaning Nigerians to focus their social responsibility towards improving the plight of inmates and thereby making the society safer
