The State Commandant of Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps Ebonyi State Command Dr Elijah Etim Willie has appreciated the tremendous support he garnered in Ebonyi State over a 100 days in office .
Briefing newsmen in his office last Wednesday, Commandant Willie said the support was holistic from the local people, government and staff. In his own words, the staff zeal to work was applaudable and commendable even as the state governor Francis Nwifuru’s support and concern was appreciated.
The commandant who used the opportunity to unveiled his scorecard said over 65 cases were reported to the command during the period under review. 85 suspects were apprehended while six convictions have been secured even as one kidnap victim was rescued and reconciled with the family.
He averred that this was made possible through morale boosting the staff received from him and. reinvigoration of areas that needed urgent attention like revamping of broken down operational vehicles .
The NSCDC helmsman revealed that he had within this period set up a formidable Crack squad and Raid response unit as well as Safe School patrol teams.
He also added that he has launched Civil Defence officers’ wives Association and that plans were at advance stage to floating a Civil Defence Crèche , Nursery and Primary school coming on stream by the next academic session.
Commandant Willie said he enjoys a tremendous collaboration with sister security agencies which to him is second to none in the country.
He called on members of the public to continue to lend support to Civil Defence in the state as a more friendly organization with humane face to enable continual deliver on it’s mandate to secure lives and property in Ebonyi state as well as clear the state of miscreants.
