In a significant operation, the Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended and paraded criminal syndicates involved in motorcycle snatching in the state’s Furfuri and Bungudu Local Government Areas.

According to the State Commandant of NSCDC, Sani Mustapha, the operatives of the Corps successfully intercepted a notorious gang attempting to snatch a Bajaj motorcycle from a commercial rider in the Gada Biyu Area of Gusau metropolis.

The three suspected motorcycle snatchers, identified as Abdulkarim Usman (29), Aminu Ibrahim (28), and Nasiru Bala (20), allegedly conspired with a motorcycle dealer, Sani Samaila, from Yan Dole Motorcycle Market in Gusau. Their intention was to steal and potentially harm the owner of a Bajaj motorcycle with the plate number TMA 162 QH, who was engaged in lawful Okada business.

Commandant Mustapha, speaking through the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ikor Oche, disclosed that the suspects confessed to the crime. They reportedly attacked the victim with a hard stick, known as Gora, with the intent to kill him, before fleeing with his motorcycle. However, swift action by NSCDC operatives led to their arrest.

During the operation, two stolen Bajaj motorcycles were recovered as crucial evidence.

Additionally, the NSCDC Command paraded another group of suspects involved in breaching public peace and burning the Corps’ operational vehicle on April 10 during Eid prayers at the Central Eid ground in Gusau.

The Commandant clarified that this group intended to cause mayhem at the Eid praying ground as retaliation for a previous altercation at a gold mining site in Niger Republic with a faction known as Yan Arle.

Commandant Mustapha emphasized that all suspects would face legal prosecution upon the completion of investigations to serve as a deterrent to others.
