Oyo LG elections: NSCDC Commandant issues directives on security operations

In preparation for the local government elections coming up on Saturday, April 27, the Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo State, Augustine Padonu, has issued a directive to all area commanders and divisional officers to initiate security operations within their respective jurisdictions.

The directive by the commandant is to ensure the successful conduct of the elections by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

In a management meeting convened by the Commandant on Wednesday at the command headquarters in the Agodi area of Ibadan were heads of department, heads of units, area commanders, sectional heads, unit commanders, and divisional officers.Related PostsNo Content Available

A statement by the Public Relations Officer, DSC Samuel Opebiyi, said that the briefing by Commandant Padonu was on crucial issues of concern, assessment and evaluations of the activities of various formations across the state.

Emphasising the critical role of the NSCDC in ensuring a secure and conducive environment for the electoral process, the commandant underscored the importance of upholding peace and security during the election period.

He stressed the need for the management team to exemplify a culture of discipline and professionalism in discharging their duties and responsibilities during the election.

He reiterated NSCDC’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct and ethical practices, underscoring the organisation’s dedication to fostering a secure and fair electoral atmosphere.

The management meeting, according to the PRO, also provided a platform for in-depth discussions on various issues of concern surrounding the forthcoming election, covering topics such as security preparedness, coordination with relevant stakeholders and strategies for ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens during the electoral process.

The statement reiterated the command’s steadfastness in its commitment to safeguarding the democratic process and upholding the peace and security of the state, as well as working in close collaboration with the relevant authorities to ensure smooth and successful local government elections.
