Ogn Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,215 personnel to ensure a hitch-free Easter celebration, the State NSCDC boss, Mr David Ojelabi, said on Saturday.
Ojelabi disclosed in Abeokuta that the personnel are currently monitoring sensitive places in the state to prevent criminal activities or disorders during the Easter celebration.
”Our personnel are watching over public infrastructure, motor parks, markets, malls, major roads and public gatherings, among others .
“They were drawn from various units and departments of the Command, including the Marine Unit, Arms Squad and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU).
“Others are the Anti-Vandals Unit, Intelligence Unit, Anti-Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration Unit, Agro Rangers Squad and the Commandant’s Quick Response Squad,” he said.
Ojelabi stated that the measure was in comformity with the statutory duties of NSCDC.
He listed the duties to include protection of lives and property, identification and monitoring of flashpoints and criminally-minded individuals, as well as prevention of their criminal plans.
“Henceforth, parents and guardians must take responsibility for their wards as anyone arrested for vandalism, disruption of peace, law and order, kidnapping, abduction, or other sundry offences will be prosecuted by the law enforcement agencies,” the Commandant warned.
He assured Ogun residents that the agency would give its best to make them have a hitch-free Easter celebration.
