NAF airstrikes kill ‘scores of bandits’ in Zamfara

Several bandits have been reportedly killed during airstrikes by troops of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Tsafe LGA of Zamfara.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication in the Lake Chad region, said the airstrikes were conducted in Magazu, Gidan Giye village and Kachallah Hassan Nabamu camp.

The publication qouted a military source as saying that the airstrikes were conducted on March 27.

The source said the ground troop of operation Hadarin Daji engaged the bandits in a gun battle during an attempt to attack Gidan Gaye village.
He said the bandits were overwhelmed by the troops and retreated.

The source added that the bandits started assembling at Tabanni, Magazu and Kachallah Hassan Nabamu villages to launch another attack.

The publication said the troops sighted the bandits moving in large numbers on about 50 motorcycles around Magazu village.

Makama quoted the source as saying that the NAF aircraft lured the bandits with four full packages of shawarma, zobo drink, and sausages, delivered around their location.

The publication said the bandits fled the location when the NAF jet fired at them, adding that the troops recovered 37 motorcycles.

Makama added that the dead bodies of the bandits scattered around Kachallah Hassan Nabamu camp in Tsafe LGA.
