Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has been recognised as a national hero in the fight against insecurity in the country by making the State one of the safest in the North-East sub-region.
The recognition was by the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) which presented the Award of Excellence to the Governor for his support to Security Agencies operating in the State.
Officers and Men of NSCDC covered at the Government House EXCO Chambers on Friday to appreciate and acknowledge the support of the Governor to the security agencies in the discharge of their constitutional responsibility of securing the people.
The NSCDC State Commandant, Ilelaboye Oyejide presented the award to the Governor in recognition of his outstanding achievements as a public servant and politician particularly his support to security agencies.
Ilelaboye Oyejide particularly commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his developmental projects across the State and the continous support to security Agents.
He noted that his support is responsible for the relative peace being enjoyed in Bauchi State expressing hope that it would spur him to do more, urging other leaders to emulate him.
The Commandant further noted that the award was party of events marking the 2024 Civil Defence Day and their contributions to protection of lives and properties when heroes are usually recognised and honored stressing that the Governor deserved such honor.
Ilelaboye Oyejide further explained that the recognition was the translation of the Governor’s “compassion, zeal and commitment towards addressing internal security of the state through working in synergy with the Local and National security operatives.”
According to him, “The award should have been presented on the 1st day of March, a day set aside for the global ceremony of Civil Defense day, but was delayed due to the Governor’s engagements.”
The Commandant acknowledged with appreciation the contribution of Senator Bala Muhammad towards remodeling the operation of the Corps when he was a minister Federal capital territory and called for continues of his advice for the development of the Corps.
In his response, Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir called for a harmanious partnership among the Country’s Security operatives to mitigate terrorism, banditry and other criminalities in the country.
The Governor also advocated for stronger unity among the Citizens to form a common tool for fighting Corruption and Miscreants in Nigeria.
He explained that his administration has created an enabling environment for all the security operatives in the state to work according to their prescribed constitutional duties and commended the Nigeria Police Force for aligning and understanding with the NSCDC.
The Governor, who explained that he has a very good relationship with the NSCDC, said that his administration is always ready to lend support with the hope that the gesture will be reciprocated in tackling any security threats in the state.
The Governor appreciated the NSCDC for the honor and said that it will spur him to do more in terms of developmental projects with particular focus on security.
He commended all the security agents working in the state for their cooperation in fighting Crimes and criminalites in the State assuring that his administration will continue to support them so as to enable people of the State sleep with their two eyes closed.
