The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has charged the officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Rivers State Command on the need to remain Diligent, Resilient and loyal to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Gov. Fubara made this call at the Command Headquarters of the NSCDC in Port Harcourt where he was represented by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Barr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo who lauded the authorities of the Corps on the tremendous successes achieved in combating crimes across the nation.
He further commended the Rivers State Command for effective collaborations with other sisters security agencies in fighting the menace of Oil theft, cultism and other sundry offences ravaging the State.
Delivering his address as the Special Guest of Honour, Barr. Danagogo further charged the 2024 Regular Intake officers and men on parade: “Your present state is not a determinant of where you ought to be; but with diligence and loyalty to your nation without loosing focus you can be where God has destined you to be”.
The SSG felicitated with the State Commandant Basil Igwebueze, the Senior management officers and other personnel on the occasion of the 2024 World Civil Defence Day being celebrated annually by countries who are members of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO).
Also in his address the Acting Zonal Commander (Zone L); Commandant Aniekan Udoeyop narrated the history of the NSCDC dated back to its formation during the Civil War era in 1967 known as the Lagos Civil Defence Committee till her establishment as full fleshed Federal Government Paramilitary Agency with the enabling Act, 2003 as amended in 2007.
He extolled the Administration of the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni.OFR for an effective and result oriented leadership qualities, training and retraining of officers and men, an all inclusive personnel welfare package and repositioning the Corps to a world class elite organization poised to Safeguard all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure of the nation and protect the life and property of the citizens.
Addressing the news media, the Rivers State Commandant said having gone through such a rigorous training the newly recruited officers and men must be ready to abide by the NSCDC Code of Conduct and Standard Operating Procedures noting that the nation is in need of gallant, dedicated and loyal officers who would represent the NSCDC and combat criminalities without compromising the ethical standard of the Corps.
He further hinted that the personnel would be acquainted with daily activities of the command by deploying them to various Departments and Units for intanship training.
The occasion was witnessed by lots of dignitaries such as: the Rivers Command Commissioner of Police; CP Olatunji Disu, Service Commanders from the Nigerian Airforce, Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service, Immigration Service, Director of DSS, ICPC, NEMA, the Chairman of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria, Rivers Chapter, His Royal Majesty Eze Barr. Onyekachi Amaonwu DSSRS. King of Omuma Kingdom, Captains of Industries, Invited Schools amongst others.
