The Sokoto State Commandant of the Nigeria Secrity and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Commandant Bello Alkali Argungu has celebrated 2024 International Civil Defence Day which coincided with NSCDC recruits’ graduation ceremony in grand style with this year’s theme ”Honour Heroes and Promote Safety Skills”
The dual events were commemorated with a 20 km road walk aimed at creating awareness of the day and extolling the resilience of numerous men and women who sacrificed their lives in promoting safety skills.
Similarly, the recruits were vigorously trained for 6 months in different areas such as discipline, inter agency collaboration and cooperation, rule of law, human rights and firearms handling.
In his speech, the Executive Governor of the state, Ahmad Aliyu expressed his happiness at the general conduct of the personnel in the state and added that 2600 personnel of the Sokoto state community guards are on training and will contribute more to the area of intelligence gathering to secure the state. The Governor added that his administration is ever ready to support security sector in the state.
