Ebonyi State Police Commissioner, Aliyu Garba has announced the arrest of 50 suspects in connection with the killing of security operatives and wanton destruction of government properties in the state.

According to the state police Chief, ”About 39 out of the 50 suspects were arrested in Agubia ikwo s they were plaing to attack Onueke Police Station and INEC office both in Ezza South Local Government area of Ebonyi state. Eight of tese suspects made useful statements to the Police, while one of them, Elom Daniel ‘m’ age 17yrs took Police Operatives to their hideout at Agbaja-Izzi community in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state, where the owner of the house escaped leaving behind his wife and a child. Upon intensive search of the house/premises, the following items were recovered.”

“One AK47 rifle with 35 live ammunition, two AR rifles with eight live ammunition, eight magazines, two locally fabricated Improvised Explosive devices, five machetes, one police belt, some charms were found on them” Aliyu said.

Aliyu said that one Elom Daniel admitted specialising in drawing the map of any planned area to be attacked by the group before execution.
