No fewer than 302 officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, ranging from Inspector cadre to Assistant Commandant have been decorated in Gombe State.
Speaking on Tuesday shortly after the decoration, Commandant General of the Corps Ahmed Audi, urged the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Represented by the Assistant Commandant General\xa0 Zone C, covering Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi states, Umar Musa Bala, Audi encouraged them to put the interest of the country first.
He said, “They should put the interest of the Corps and Nation first. The beneficiaries must know that they are not better than others it’s a privilege as they have done their best and they have been given this opportunity by God. They should give more and give their best by putting the interest of the Corps at heart.”
Audi lauded the existing relationship between the Corps and residents, “I’m impressed with the relationship. Residents should cooperate with Civil Defence and other security agencies when they see foul movements they should talk by reporting, gone are the days when you see reporting misdeeds as strictly the work of security operatives. Security is the work of all members of the public,” Audi added.
Also speaking, Gombe State Commandant Muhammad Bello, expressed happiness at the decoration of his subordinates.
He added, “The pleasures are all mine. What I have for them is a prayer that God will guide and protect them throughout their country.”
Bello urged the beneficiaries to show professionalism in their work, “I just hope they will demonstrate a high level of discipline and professionalism while undertaking their duties. They should be equal to their task; they should behave in line with the new rank.”
