The State Commandant of NSCDC Ondo Command, Commandant Ibiloye Oluyemi said the command will partner Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the fight against substance abuse leading to criminality and insecurity in the State.
This partnership was made known during a courtesy visit paid to the State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Kayode Raji in his office today, 2nd February, 2024.
As part of his familiarization visit to the State Service Commanders, Commandant Ibiloye called on the Helmsman of NDLEA in a bid to further build on the existing relationship between the two government agencies.
In his words, ” I am here to build on the existing relationship and to find a common ground to foster a peaceful and secure environment.
” We cannot fight insecurity without fostering a relationship with NDLEA. Ondo State is relatively peaceful but but there are pocket of issues which are majorly trans-boarder.
” Our Agro Rangers Squad will be empowered to go on joint operations with NDLEA to keep illicit drugs out of the State under my watch”
The Commander appreciated the Commandant for his spirit of camaraderie which he has observed with NSCDC been the closest to NDLEA among all the sister agencies.
He opined that without the abuse of drugs there will not be crime. Quoting the commander, he said, ‘85% of all crimes are committed under the influence of drug’.
Both helmsmen agreed to intensify sharing intelligence and joint operations to keep illicit drugs out of Ondo State.
