Ebonyi NSCDC Commandant, Elijah Etim Willie Sues For Synergy With The Police

Ebony state Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Elijah Etim Willie has solicited a fraternal partnership with the Police in the state. He made this plea on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 when he paid a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner of Police, Augustina Ogbodo in her office in Abakaliki.

He remarked that the police have been on ground for so long that the he deemed it necessary to commence his familiarization visits to sister security agencies in the state with the Nigeria Police. The Commandant noted that his alliance with the Commissioner of police will avail much in the quest for greater security of life and property in the state.

” I want to know how we can join Force to do the work, for peace and security in Ebonyi State.”

Responding, the C P, Ogbodo thanked the Commandant for according her the honour of visiting her first Iamong other service commanders stressing that it was a sign that they would work harmoniously. “We are partners in progress for the security of Ebonyi people in accordance with the policy of the state government.” 

She further advised the commandant to feel at home; that Ebonyi State is relatively peaceful, compared to other South Eastern states.

 Commandant Willie later paid a similar visit to the commander, Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency in the state. The State commander of NDLEA Uche Iyke also expressed joy in receiving commandant Willie. He charged him to embrace the task in the State with positive disposition, adding that the major attraction in the state was it’s relative peace. He added that some isolated cases of social upheavals were often overblown by the media. That even the hyped sit at home syndrome in the south east is a non issue in Ebonyi. According to him, even if you don’t expect to make much money here but you can afford to sleep with your two eyes closed be. 

He promised to share experiences with Commandant Willie and synergize in areas of operation.

The situation was not different when the Commandant’s entourage visited the State’s Controller of Corrections, Sir Anthony Chigbata.

He was elated that the two agencies under the same board on interior ministry are synergizing to achieve results. He observed that the understanding was often more pronounced at the top echelon of the ladder. He charged the subordinates to toe the same path for the good of the nation.
