Governor Obaseki Receives New Edo NSCDC Commandant, Agun Gbenga

Edo State Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki has said that his administration wold not relent in its battle against illicit drug’s abuse and incidences of violent crimes across the state.

He spoke during a courtesy visit by the new Commandant of the  Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps State in the state, Agun Gbenga.

Receiving the new NSCDC Commandant in Edo State, Agun Gbenga, Gov. Obaseki noted that his resumption at a critical time of perennial security challenges calls for strengthening of collaboration of the state’s security architecture which he said has recorded a slight setback with the change of most of the security heads in the state.

Gov. Obaseki said that while cultism remains one of the biggest security challenges in the state, his administration would keep updating an existing law to ensure proper prosecution of offenders. 

The governor thanked the commandant and officers of the Corps for always sending security reports and pledged to assist the Corps in their operations. 

The New Edo State NSCDC Commandant, Agun Gbenga said he is on the national assignment in the state on the directive of the Commandant General, Dr Abubakar Audu to make the state peaceful in line with the core functions of the NSCDC.

Commandant Agun, who decried the spate of cult related activities, kidnapping, and vandalism. He however pledged his support to partner with other security agencies to ensure a peaceful Edo State.

 Agun Gbenga, who ranks as the seventeen state Commandant of the NSCDC, hails from Ekiti State.
