The State Commandant, Suleiman Jimoh joined other Service Commanders yesterday to lay wreath in commemoration and remembrace of the fallen heroes at the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Asaba, Delta State capital.
The event which marked annually on the 15th of January is to appreciate and honour the nation’s fallen heroes as well as honour living veterans, remember the service of all those in uniform, some of whom have paid the ultimate price to ensure a safe Nigeria.
The event, which was held at the Cenotaph, Asaba had in attendance the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Elder Oborevwori Sheriff, the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday John Onyeme, officers and men of the military, paramilitary, the Nigeria Legion, top government officials, traditional rulers and members of the public.
The highlights of the 2024 celebration in Asaba featured inspection of guard by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori Sheriff, wreath laying ceremony which symbolizes the sacrifice of the Nigerian Armed Forces, twenty-one gun salute and the release of pigeons by the executive governor as a symbol of peace.
The ceremony came to a memorable end at about 1100hrs.
