NSCDC Foils Attempt To Transport Two Truckloads Of Stolen Cattle

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operating in Zamfara State has apprehended two trucks that were transporting cows suspected to have been stolen by miscreants from Tsafe Local Government Area.

Sani Mustapha, the NSCDC State Commandant, addressed the media in Gusau, emphasizing the Corps’ commitment to eradicating criminal activities in the state.

Mustapha detailed that the Corps successfully intercepted two trucks carrying a total of 24 cows and one sheep.

These animals were en route from Tsafe local government area to Gusau.

The suspected wrongdoers had initially planned to transport the cows under the cover of night but decided to unload them in the Damba Area, a suburb of Gusau.

Upon the Corps’ intervention, the suspects fled upon seeing the officers. Mustapha revealed that the seized cows and sheep were handed over to the Ministry for Security and Home Affairs for the purpose of returning them to their rightful owners.

Expressing a stern warning to potential criminals, Mustapha urged individuals involved in unlawful activities to refrain from such actions or face the consequences enforced by law enforcement agencies.

It’s noteworthy that the Zamfara state government recently implemented a ban on cow sales in specific local government areas, including Tsafe, where the apprehended stolen cows were reportedly transported from.

This action is in harmony with the government’s endeavors to suppress unlawful activities associated with livestock, as part of their ongoing commitment to address and mitigate issues related to the illegal trade and transportation of animals.
