Over 50,000 Of Nigerian Troops Can’t Be With Their Families During Christmas – Army chief

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, says over 500,000 of Nigerians troops cannot be with their families during the Yuletide as they would be on duty in difficult-to-access towns, communities, villages and hamlets within the country and beyond.

The Army boss commended the soldiers for their unwavering dedication and sacrifice in ensuring safety and security of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

Lagbaja said this in his Christmas message which is contained in a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, on Sunday in Abuja. He saluted the troops for their undying faith in the Nigerian State in the face of adversity. He also congratulated the troops on making it this far into the year and for weathering every storm that came their way.
He said more than 50 thousand troops of the Nigerian army would miss wishing their families and loved ones Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in person, during this season. He said though they wish to be with their families during the season, but they would be on duty.
