Operatives of the Nasarawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat motorcycle snatching activities in the state by successfully busting a motorcycle snatching syndicate and arresting six suspects involved in the criminal activities.
While addressing newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Lafia the State Capital, the State Commandant Abbas Bappa Muhammed who spoke through the Command’s Public Relations Officer DSC Jerry Victor, said the arrest of the six suspects marked a significant achievement for the NSCDC as this has demonstrated the command’s commitment to combating crime and enhancing security in the state.
The syndicate’s activities had posed a serious threat to the safety and security of the residents, particularly motorcycle operators who were targeted by this criminal group.
The suspects Umar Jibrin Also Known as ‘Abacha’ m’ 27 year old an indigene of Bauchi state, residing at Ashige Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State, lured his victim Larauwa Sale to the outskirt of Lafia metropolis in mile Uku Jos road, drugged Larauwa before disappearing with his motorcycle.
He allegedly sold the motorcycle to one Samaila at the rate of 200,000 naira. The chains of other buyers include Mr. Kanming Maigari, Mr. Bala Ishaka, Mr. Ali Adamu, Mr. Suleiman Ibrahim and Mr. Luka Chirowa who bought the deceased machine at different times, for 340,000, 350,000, 460,000, 520,000 and 530,000 naira respectively.
The successful operation also served as a warning to other criminal elements that the NSCDC is actively engaged in combating crime and will not hesitate to take decisive measures to ensure the safety and security of the residents.
In furtherance of NSCDC war against any act of criminality, the Command was able to arrest one Hauwa Adamu 29yrs resident of Kukan Bissa, Lafia Nasarawa State for impersonation and rituals related offences.
She was arrested by the staff of Lafia East Primary Health Care in the labour room. She claimed that one Abubakar Isa 30yrs who is in our custody residing at Kilema instructed her to fetch the blood of a pregnant woman during childbirth, she disguised and went into the labour room, where she was apprehended by the nurse on duty.
The State Commandant Abbas Bappa Muhammed has condemned this monstrous, atrocious and dastardly act in its totality and urged residents to be more vigilant within and around their environment.
Investigation is ongoing, after which all the suspects they will be transfer to the Ministry of Justice for necessary prosecution.
