Delta Police Arrest Fraudster Impersonating Govt Officials

The Delta State Police Command has arrested one Samsom Ibiloma, a member of the syndicate specialising in impersonating top government officials, including the Secretary to the State government, Mr. Kingsley Emu to defraud victims of over N10 million.

The 52-year-old hails from Dekina council of Kogi State but resides in Warri. He was arrested by the police through technically generated intelligence at Walter Odili Area by Enerhen Junction in Warri.

Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect was arrested after a series of complaints received from victims on a suspected fraudster impersonating the secretary to the State government.

Edafe said: “For a long while, this syndicate has been operating under the alias of Honourable Kingsley Emu, the Secretary to Delta State Government, to defraud unsuspecting victims seeking for jobs worth millions of naira”.

He said the suspect has been promising to give his victims jobs in the state, and regrettably many have fallen victim.

Edafe said: “The suspect confessed to impersonating government officials of repute and influence to defraud his victims of over N10m. The suspects also confessed that the leader of the syndicate is one Stephen Odeemero, whom he claimed to be the mastermind of the crime. The suspect is currently in police custody while effort is on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.”

Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, Mr. Wale Abass, has detailed operatives of the Command’s DECOY Squad, to ensure a meticulous investigation into the matter.

He called on residents who have been victims of lbiloma’s fraudulent act to visit the command headquarters or the Police Public Relations Officer give information for further investigation on the matter.

Abass reassured the public that the command would continue to work hard and ensure the safety and peace of residents of the state. The commissioner also charged the public to report any criminal activities to the nearest police station with confidence that the command will act swiftly
