Operatives of the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the leadership of Commandant Suleiman Agboola Jimoh have apprehended one Nelly Rose Andrew, a suspected human trafficker alleged to have specialised child trafficking and child labour.

The 38-year-old suspect, before her arrest was alleged to have been perpetrating her heinous trade at Umuazi Quarters, Umunede in Ika Local Government Area of Delta State

The suspect was arrested in connection with twelve children allegedly requested and took away six children from their parents from Nere community in Kaduna under the false pretense of offering them scholarship and enroll them at Missionary schools.

”After a while She went back to request for another Six (6) children and paid twenty thousand naira to each family.

Concerns grew when families started requesting to see their children, and all of a sudden, she became incommunicado. It however took the efforts of the NSCDC Delta operatives in collaboration with NAPTIP and Delta State Taskforce on Human Trafficking. She is still being detained in our custody along with the children, though one of the children is still missing, and one has been sent to her parents.” a statement from Anthony Uchenna the Delta NSCDC Spokesman explained.

”All the affected children would be handed over to NAPTIP for further investigation and possible prosecution after our investigation.” the statement added.

While speaking about the arrest, Delta NSCDC Commandant, Suleiman Agboola Jimoh, urged Nigerians to be wary of people they are giving out their wards to, revealing that lots of criminal elements unknown to people disguise as philanthropists, warning parents to always observe due process and investigate people they entrust their children to.
