NSCDC SECURES CONVICTION OF 3 VANDALS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command on Friday secured the conviction and sentencing of three vandals namely, Kabiru M. Musa “m” aged 25 of Awari quarters, Gujungu, Taura LGA of Jigawa State, Umar Adam Abdullahi “m” aged 18 of Sharada gidan kwari, Kano, Kano State and Shafi’u Hamza “m” aged 25 of Maska town, Funtua LGA Katsina state before Honorable Justice Hassan Dikko of the Dutse Division of the Federal High Court, Jigawa State. 

They were jailed after pleading guilty to two counts charges of criminal conspiracy and tampering with electric fittings ( two ROY 12V/150Ah solar batteries and charge controller) along Hadejia road, Gujungu town Taura LGA Area, Jigawa State on or about 13th March, 2023 contrary to section 97 of the Penal Code and Section 1(10) of the miscellaneous offences Act.

The Defendants pleaded guilty to all the counts of charges. 

In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel prayed the court to convict and sentence them accordingly.

Justice Dikko thereafter convicted and sentenced them to six months imprisonment without an option of fine. He equally ordered them to re-install the tampered fittings at Hadejia road, Gujungu town, Taura LGA of Jigawa State under the supervision of the District Head of Gujungu. 

It may be recalled that the trio were apprehended on Monday, 13th Day of March, 2023 at about 0200hrs by operatives of NSCDC while vandalising solar security lights put in place by the Jigawa State Ministry of Works.
