The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Saturday drilled its personnel and conducted a 10-km walk and jogging, aimed at keeping the officers and men fit to tackle security challenges in the country.
The NAF says physical fitness is one of the requirements for every personnel to remain active.
The Deputy Force Commander, Operation Hadarin Daji, Air Vice Marshall Bashiru Rimi Mamma who led the exercise from the Nigerian Air Force Base, Gusau to Daza Community along Kaura Namoda road says that the walk would foster unity and develop all round physical fitness.
He added that the annual ten kilometers walk is aimed at keeping personnel and their families in good shape.
“In line with this tradition, the NAF organizes annual 10KM Walk/Jog to ensure Officers, Airmen/Airwomen and Civilian Staff including volunteers, NAF Spouses as well as family members are physically fit in order to handle the rigors and stress associated with their jobs” he said.
“Accordingly, today we have successfully conducted the year 2023 annual 10KM Walk/Jog exercise. I therefore, need to reiterate that the essence of this exercise is not to win prizes but, to foster esprit de corps, comradeship and physical fitness as a service. Hence, I want to re-echo the need for all personnel to actively participate in exercises to keep pace with the demands of our jobs” AVM Rimi maintained.
The Deputy Force Commander, Operation Hadarin Daji, AVM Maman noted that the quest for troops to be fit becomes necessary considering NAF involvement in keeping peace in a troubled area across the country.
” With the NAF actively involved in the various theatres across the country in the bid to curtail the various security challenges in our Nation, it is important that we remain both physically and mentally fit to carry out our responsibilities as the defenders of our Nation’s territorial integrity. It is pertinent to use this medium to enjoin you all to be more vigilant at all times and be security conscious, while remaining apolitical, wherever you find yourselves during the course of your duty.”
“While I encourage you to interact with the civil populace, be guided by the ethics and discipline that has been inculcated in you.”
“You must foster peace and be law abiding as you carry out your civic duties. I want to encourage you to continue to exercise on your own so as to remain physically fit and a sound mind at all times” he advised the troops.
He reiterated the force’s readiness to play their part as required by the law to help in solving the country’s security challenges.
On Politics, AVM Mamman appeal to officers and men to remain Apolitical and focus on their job wherever they found their self.
Authorities of the Nigerian Air Force according to Rimi is appreciative to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the unwavering support his administration is giving to the Nigerian Air force.
