How Four Of Our Officers Were Killed By Pirates, Rivers NSCDC Commandant, Basil Igwebueze Opens Up To People’s Security Monitor

The Helmsman of the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Basil Chinaka Igwebueze has explained in detail how four of his officers and one civilian engaged as boat driver for surveillance were killed in the line of duty on Wednesday by suspected sea pirates along Bakana River in Degema LGA of Rivers State.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with People’s Security Monitor, Commandant Igwebueze who gave the names of the slain officers as follows: DSC Jimah Muideen Abdulazeez, ASC 11 Musa Sulaiman, ASC1 Anagbogu Chibizor and ASC11 Eze Christian Ndubuisi disclosed that the incident happened last Wednesday when the slain officers were heading back to State Command for their biometrics data exercise.

All the rifles of the slain officers according to the State Commandant Igwebueze were carted away their killers.

The well-armed pirates are notorious for frequent kidnappings of passengers for ransom, while they also hijack goods, wares and boat engines from their owners on the waterways.

Commandant Igwebueze said that two of the dead officers were Muslims and as such, they have been buried according to Islamic rites in their respective states of Nasarawa and Kogi, while the other two have taken to their respective states of Ebonyi and Anambra states in the Southeast.

Meanwhile the operatives of The NSCDC have embarked on massive and aggressive search for all the suspected killers of the officers.
