NSCDC CG, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi
The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has said only close collaboration among security agencies would help tackle attacks on schools in the country, just as he added that the NSCDC would continue to reach out to other agencies in order to make schools safe.
Audi stated this on Thursday at the closing ceremony of Exercise Safe Schools Programme 2023, organised by the NSCDC for officers of the agency in the South West region and held at the 2 Division Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan.
The NSCDC boss, represented by Deputy Commandant-General, Technical, Shem Obafaiye, added that since security agencies had the same goals to bring about a peaceful country, it would be important for them to work together by sharing intelligence to tackle criminalities.Related PostsWe’ve prevented 48 planned attacks on schools in Nigeria — NSCDCGSS emerges 2023 best security brand in NigeriaNSCDC arrests child trafficking syndicate in Ondo
Earlier, the Commander of the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre (NSSRC), Dr Tersoo Shapera, said that security agencies would continue to work with members of different communities to prevent attacks on schools.
Shapera, who explained that the centre, established by Dr Audi, draws personnel from other security agencies like the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), among others, said it would continue to work more with residents of localities where schools are located in order to gather intelligence about the movement of criminals in the areas.
At the event, which started on Tuesday, were the GOC, 2 Division, Major-General Bamidele Alabi, represented by the Chief of Staff, Brigadier-General Beyidi Martins; heads of other security agencies in Oyo State and the commandants of NSCDC from the South West states.
