Plateau NSCDC Commandant, Alexander Bissa Barunde, yesterday received in his office members of the Plateau State members of the Nigerian Legion led by the state Commandant, Mr. Emmanuel Agbakpa.
Mr. Agbaka explained that they were visiting the NSCDC Helmsman to seek collaboration and assistance from Plateau NSCDC in the fight against insecurity and sustenance of peace and order in the state.
According to the Legion boss, ”though we are retired officers; but we are not tired, and we have the mandate of the Chief of Army Staff to recruit young personnel to beef up their functions and activities like Armed Forces Remembrance Day among others.”
Agbakpa reiterated their support in intelligence gathering and training of NSCDC personnel when necessary.
In his response the Commandant Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Alexander Bissa Barunde appreciated them for the visit, and also pledged the NSCDC support for the Legion as it may be deemed necessary, urging them to continue in the spirit of oneness and love for Nigeria.
Nigeria Legion was established in 1988 as a reserved Legion for catering of the welfare of retirees.
