No fewer than 1,500 operatives of the Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been reportedly deployed across the state for a hitch-free Eid el-Kabir celebration.
The deployment, according to the state commandant, Adamu Salihu, is geared at intensifying surveillance and security of lives before, during, and after the celebration, which starts tomorrow.
The NSCDC commander announced this during an interactive session with newsmen at the command’s headquarters, located along Mile Six Road in Jalingo, the state capital, on Tuesday.
The deployment, he said, has become necessary in order to shield worshippers from any form of attack.
According to Salihu, apart from protecting worshippers at the Eid grounds, the deployed operatives will also protect critical national assets during and after the festival.
He further disclosed that NSCDC operatives are deployed to all the flash points across the nooks and crannies of the state.
