Three miners have been reportedly shot dead by bandits were on at a mining site around Tanjol in Jol community of Riyom local government area in Plateau State.
Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Movement (BYM), confirmed the incident, saying other miners and farmers around have fled the area.
He explained that two other persons were injured in the incident that happened at about 11am when everyone around the area was going about their activities.
The publicity secretary called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts towards the safety of lives and property in rural communities, describing the attack as one too many.
He lamented that the killings have continued unabated despite the deployment of mobile police officers in the area.
DSP Alfred Alabo, the Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Plateau did not take the calls put across to react to the incident.
