KOGI NSCDC COMMANDANT VISITS OBAJANA CEMENT FACTORY, CALLS FOR MORE SYNERGY BETWEEN NSCDC AND DANGOTE GROUP OF COMPANIES

The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kogi State Command Lokoja, Ahmad Ahmad Gandi stressed on the need for a robust and more purposeful synergy between the Dangote group of Company located in Lokoja Kogi State and NSCDC when he paid a courtesy visit to the Obajana Cement company.

Upon arrival he was received by the top management of the cement Company which includes, Mr John Guon General Manager production, representing the Plant Director who was away on official assignment in Lagos.

Also present is Mr Itodo Samuel, Head of Training, Head of Admin represented by Mr Tobi Oluwatosin the HR Head and Security Manager Colonel Muhammed Lawal (rtd).

The Commandant observed that the massive structure of the Cement plant, the influx and movement of people can not be overemphasized, thus the need for adequate presence of Security personnel that will guarantee maximum protection of lives and properties in and  around the Company including the host Community.

Speaking further, Ahmad Ahmad Gandi emphasized that the NSCDC whose core mandate amongst others, is the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, of which the Cement Company is one of such Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, hence the need for NSCDC personnel to be adequately present, while noting that the present number is not enough by what he has seen, in his words ” although you may have the presence of the Military, and the Police, they all have their own specific roles to play in providing Security but  NSCDC has the mandate of protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure” he said.

The Kogi State NSCDC helmsman sighting the vast nature of the Company made a request for a Hilux Van amongst other logistics for NSCDC personnel  which would aid their movements in terms of surveillance, quick response to emergencies and any form of Security threat. 

Earlier on the Commandant appreciated the management of the Company for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage.

Responding on behalf of the Plant Director, Mr John Guon, appreciated the State Commandant Ahmad Ahmad Gandi for the visit, while reacting to the request of the Commandant, he said “there is a plan to specifically give a particular responsibility to NSCDC by the Company, this will be unveiled as soon as plans are are concluded”he said.

Further more he asked the Commandant to put all he has requested for in writing through Obajana Cement company, which will be forwarded to the Headquarters in Lagos, as this will help the management to activate the process.

He agreed with the Commandant on the need for more security personnel due to the distance of the mining site, massive movement of people to the State, we need to redouble our strategies to work well.

He spoke on the use of artificial intelligence by the Company,  John Guon reiterated that, for expansion more personnel is needed.
