The Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kaduna state Command, CC Idris Yahaya Adah, assumed duties in May 2022 at the peak of security challenges and other criminal activities.
Faced with these challenges, CC Idris Yahaya Adah conceived security strategies to reduce or wipe out bandits and other criminals terrorising the peaceful coexistence of the good people in the state.
Although, CC Idris Yahaya Adah did not waste time, meeting with other security agencies in the state to form a formidable force to counter all criminal activities that have been giving the residents of the state sleepless nights.
In his capacity as the commandant in the state, he devised several security strategies to salvage the situation by creating additional area commands from the existing three area commands, creating more divisional offices and outposts across the 23 local government areas of the state, just as he ordered the immediate deployment of trained and experienced personnel to the new offices created.
Interestingly, the officers deployed were instructed to ensure the safety of lives and property, protect critical national infrastructure in the state, among other functions.
To ease intelligence reports and confidentiality, sometimes, these officers are community leaders are residents-friendly, with a view to share important intelligent information about criminal activities in their communities/local government areas.
This has yielded positive results leading to the arrest and prosecution of several criminals in the state.
As usual, one of the immediate tasks of CC Yahaya Adah was to beef up security patrol across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna state,
On arrival in the state, he immediately undertook a tour of all the 23 local government areas of the state to see the level of damages, kidnapping and killing by bandits in the state.
CC Idris Yahaya Adah first took up the responsibility of repairing all broken down vehicles in the command and put them in proper usage for the benefit of residents of the state. Most of the vehicles are used as patrol vans, moving from one point to the other, to checkmate the activities of criminals.
At every given opportunity, CC Yahaya Adah had assured all residents in Kaduna state of the security of their lives and property, because he knows the high level of capability and training offered to personnel under his jurisdiction.
Within a period of one year, CC Adah, alongside other security agencies, carried out a joint operation in the fight against insurgency and other criminal activities.
During the period, several arrest were made, while the suspects were made to face the consequences of their action. The state command is presently prosecuting several criminal cases in court
CC Adah, while speaking with some journalists in his office recently, explained that NSCDC has broad functions apart from its core mandates.
“We also mediate between farmers and herders through our Agro-ranger Unit, which could have resulted in loss of lives and properties,” he explained
He said over 500 cases were resolved through alternative dispute resolution by the Peace and Conflict Management Unit. He also highlighted the activities of female squad unit. He said, “The female squad ensures zero tolerance for vices among students such as cultism, thuggery, hooliganism, kidnapping, rape, drug addiction, gambling, smoking, and alcoholism, among others.”
The command, under the watchful eyes of Commandant Adah, arrested a trailer conveying railway tracks along Sanga LGA and the suspects have been charged to court.
Further arrest was made of suspects using a Toyota car to convey railway tracks along Sanga LGA and the suspects were charged to court as usual.
Also, about 55 officers drawn from the command and Zonal Headquarters Zone “B” were being trained on arms bearing.
Yahaya Adah has on several occasions deployed personnel to man critical national infrastructure across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The command, under his watch, has trained over 170 private guard operatives drawn from 17 private guard companies in the state.
Following the need to rejig and reinvigorate the corps for optimum service delivery, CC Idris Yahaya Adah secured a befitting temporary office accommodation for NSCDC personnel, which today serves as NSCDC Kaduna State Headquarters.
CC Adah was described by several people who have attested to his work as a workaholic officer who hardly sleeps with his too eyes closed since he assumed office as the commandant in the state.
He has received several awards following his unprecedented exemplary and quality leadership, serving as a mentor to several people working with him.
