CC Ahmad Ahmad Gandi, Kogi NSCDC Helmsman
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State has made significant progress in its fight against crime in the state.
Recently, the Command paraded two robbery suspects and a child trafficker who were apprehended for their involvement in unwholesome activities. The state’s Commandant, Ahmad Gandi, disclosed this during a press conference held at the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Lokoja.
The suspects were arrested for criminal conspiracy, robbery, attempted homicide, receiving stolen property, cheating, and refusing to give information.
The two robbery suspects, Yakubu Abubakar, 19, and Hameed (ENU), who is still at large, were apprehended for robbing Musa Zakari of his motorcycle, two phones, and a large sum of money at KM-18 Ajaokuta road in Kogi. The victim was badly injured on his head, and the suspects had the intention of killing him. Fortunately, the victim survived and reported the case to the NSCDC office, and the suspects were tracked down to Igbemo in Ekiti State.
In addition, one Ishaka Suleiman, 19, was arrested at Ihima in Kogi, who made a confessional statement of how the robbery was perpetrated by Yakubu Abubakar and Hameed (at large). Ishaka Suleiman received the sim card of the victim and used it to defraud the victim under the pretense of being a ritual money maker.
Meanwhile, the NSCDC also arrested one Matthew Joseph, who specialised in trafficking underage children from Kaduna to Kogi State. The command was working on credible information when it arrested the trafficker, who gave useful information that led to the recovery of 32 underage children ranging from 5 to 16 years of age.
The children were trafficked to Kogi and distributed to 22 foster guardians under the pretense of the children doing house chores. The guardians trained them in school, and the children were released back to the foster guardians with the bond to produce them on demand.
The Kogi Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Fatimah Buba, commended the NSCDC for doing a wonderful job in tackling child trafficking in the state. She disclosed that the children would be repatriated to Kaduna State through the Ministry of Women Affairs.
The NSCDC in Kogi State is committed to maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and properties of the citizens. The arrest of the robbery suspects and child trafficker is a testament to their dedication and hard work.
The suspects will be charged to court for prosecution after the conclusion of the investigation. The NSCDC will continue to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure a crime-free Kogi State.
