The Chairman and Commander General of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Navy Captain Umar Bakori has implored the incoming President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigeria Armed Forces, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to step up on the security achieviements of his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari, so as to totally ease Nigeria out insecurity quaqmire.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with People’s Security Monitor, the VGN boss emphasized that the outgoing government has done a lot to combat insurgency in Nigeria.
‘’Let me implore the incoming government under Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to attach all the importance to the issue of security, and build further on the achieviements of his predecessor; no doubt about it, President Buhari has done a lot to ensure defeat of the insurgency, and we could all feel the positive impacts of his administration, and this explains why it will be extremely necessary for the incoing government to consolidate on what Buhari had put in place. Of corse we are conscious of the fact that its not something that would be that easy, because aits a form of asymmetric war in which we don’t know our enemies, but unfortunately enough tey live amonst us, they are in our markets, mosques, chueches, schools and all over the place operating in different disguises, using infornts and allies in crime against us.
As you can see compared to ugly situations in the past, President Buhari’s efforts at fortifying the military has really helped in weighing down the vibrancy and power of the insurgents, as we can feel and seen high reduction in the attacks of Boko haram and pipe vandalization. Asiwaju Tinubu should, without wasting time consolidate on these attainments.’’ Bakori said.
