NSCDC nabs two suspected Nasarawa cow thieves

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has arrested two suspected criminals who specialise in kidnapping, banditry and cattle rustling in Nasarawa and Plateau States.

The command identified the suspects as Abdullahi Larau-Abubakar and Danlami Ahmadu.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Jerry Victor, in Lafia, the state capital, on Thursday.

Victor said the suspects were arrested after painstaking efforts by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad in the command.

The statement read, “The personnel of the Special Intelligence Squad of the command swung into action after receiving and verifying credible information about the activities of bandits, kidnappers and cattle rustlers in Nasarawa and Plateau States.

“A 40-year-old Abdullahi Laru-Abubakar confessed to having called on his gang members simply identified as Umar, Duware and Ango (still at large), all from the Kwande area to rustle 10 cattle belonging to one Alhaji Sule Yamusa of the Azara community in the Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

“The second suspect, a 40-year-old Danlami Ahmadu from Angwan Kurmi Kwande district of the Quan’pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, was arrested for receiving four rustled cattle from Duware, one of the gang members.

“The suspect confessed to having conveyed the cattle to Gidan Maiwa in Bauchi State where he sold two of them for N440,000.

“Investigation is ongoing and when concluded, the suspects will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.”
