The new Lagos State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant of Corps (CC) Isaq ALfadarai Usman, yesterday, promised to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, through engagement with critical stakeholders and synergy with security agencies amongst others.
The new Commandant, who spoke after he took over from the former Lagos boss, CC Edenabu Eweka Okoro at NSCDC, Alausa, Ikeja, warned vandals and other criminal elements to turn a new leaf or relocate from Lagos, as the Command is more reinvigorated to fight criminalities.
Usman also assured Lagos residents of the Command’s preparedness to ensure a free and fair election in the state and urged them to come out enmasse to perform their civic responsibilities without fear or favour.
He further pledged to make the welfare of his officers a top priority, stressing that only well motivated staff can give their best in the protection of life and property.
The commandant called for cooperation with officers and ranks to actualise his vision for the Command. Earlier, the former Commandant, Eweka Okoro, thanked the officers for their support and urged them to extend same to his successor. He identified lack of equipment and befitting operational base as a major challenge to the Command and urged the authorities to come to assist.
The new Commandant was born in 1970 in Zaria city, in Zaria Local Council of Kaduna State. He attended Salvation Army Primary School, Agege, between 1976 and 1982.
He also attended Anwar-ul Islam College, Agege, between 1982 and 1987 both in Lagos. After his secondary education, he attended School of Basic Studies, Bauchi State Polytechnic, Bauchi from 1987 to 1989. He then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1990 to 1993, where he bagged his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. He also holds a Master Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from University of Lagos.
